The Porcupine Mountains in Ontonagon Michigan are only an hour drive from Big Powderhorn Mountain and offer fantastic skiing and snowboarding. The Porcupine Mountains Ski Area has 42 ski runs, offering a variety of challenges for everyone. Due to the proximity to Lake Superior, the area gets roughly 200 inches of snow each year, making it one of the most reliable downhill ski destinations in Upper Peninsula.
